Cat: Basanos
Owner: Donna
Appearance: C
A beautiful silky orange coat is somewhat marred by his increasing obesity. It’s not his fault. When you cut off the boys (as he is prominently displaying in this photo) the testosterone levels go crazy and lead to weight gain…or so he keeps saying.
Sociability: A
Basanos is very social and/or self-hating. Depending on whom you ask. He will come when called, even if you’re calling him “Fat Ass”. He loves to be picked up, be it by myself, my children or my friends. This despite that fact that being loved on by a child is hazardous at best and degrading at worst (we do not speak of the bonnet incident) or that my friends like to pretend he is an accordion. All attention is good attention as far as he’s concerned.
Usefulness: D
An indoor cat by choice (his sister opts for the indoor/outdoor lifestyle), Basanos cannot catch even a moth that has made its way inside. Instead he will regale it with whatever cat tales fifteen minutes worth of meowing can convey. His primary function is to be a amorphous blob in varying states of rest. This can be taken avantage of as a foot warmer, hence the lack of a solid ONE.
Huggability: A
Again, all attention is good attention. Hug him right side up, upside-downs, squeezing his upper arms and head whilst his body dangles. He loves it and will come back for more.
Overall Grade: B-
