What we have in that image is what the books call “imprinting”. Basically each werewolf man (only the men) have soul mates out there in this crazy world and when they find her they instantly know by connecting with her soul. This is called imprinting. The man loves her forever from that moment on and wants to protect her and take care of her and make babies with her.

Note, the women have no say in this. They are passive at best and brainwashed by imprinting at worst. So Jacob IMPRINTS on Renesemee in the literal moments after she is born. He’s going to be her big brother and help raise her until she hits fecundity and which point he will fuck the hell out of her.
